Piper's Birthday

So this is a little late, but I wanted to post a little about Piper's 6th birthday. She turned 6 on April 25th and we are still shocked that she needs two hands to tell us how old she is now. We had a weekend long celebration. On Friday I took treats to school at lunchtime to share with her class and brought her her favorite lunch, a sub from Publix and a bottle of Dasani water. My Mom came down that afternoon and we took Piper to Red Lobster for her birthday dinner. She is truly her Mother's daughter. She ate about a pound of snow crab legs! After dinner we headed home and let her open gifts. Dax was so excited and kept telling her what she got before she could open her presents. It was pretty cute.

On Saturday she had her party. We had a tea party this year and she invited just a couple of friends from church and her "bff" Amara who lives in our neighborhood and is a 5th grader. Did we mention Piper is only 6?! The party was really cute. All the girls came dressed up and we had feather boas and tiny teacups. The big hit was the cake. It was truly a masterpiece. The design was a Matt Mitchell original that an amazing bakery was able to make come to life with fondant. The day was full of all things girly and a heavy dose of Hannah Montana.

On Sunday, we had the grandparents over for a birthday dinner. At Piper's request we had roast, mashed potatoes, "cob on the corn", ceasar salad and crescent rolls. It was a wonderful dinner!

I can hardly believe that our 6 pound wonder is now 6 years old. There is a quote that I really love, "The days are long, but the years are short." How very true that is. I look at Piper and can so easily remember her as a newborn baby and now she is this amazing person full of sugar and spice and a person all her own.

Introducing....

ROXY SUE MITCHELL

That's right we have a new furry family member. Roxy is a brindle boxer and she is 11 weeks old. We went out for BBQ and came home with a puppy. That's normal, right? I must admit it was all my idea. I totally melted into a pile of aww when we saw her. She was just what we were missing. The kids are in love with her and also a bit scared of her. She likes to chase and nip at them. We are already looking into puppy school :) She is a sweetheart and has a very laid back personality. We are getting as much cuddle time in with her now before she grows to the size of a small horse. Wish us luck....I'm sure we will need it!!

chez mitchell, which is french for the mitchell house.

I would like to start with a disclaimer that even though i was the spelling bee champion of the third grade, i don't believe i progressed from that day. I tend to find myself satisfied. As for grammar and basic sentence structure forget about it.. well, at least i did. I am ok with this being a comic relief blog. I suppose i should  say this is Matt and not Sarah aka mrs.1460 on her sat.I say book smart. speaking of books she is currently head first into part two 1932 or something ..and repeating out loud, "oh my gosh." Piper is our now six years old as of the twenty fifth. She is an inspiration to us, a little  pixie living on the edge of time out. She is six, that is too fast. She asked me today if she will have her own room at college?..I calmly replied at some colleges,or you could live AT HOME! Dax commented, im not ready to grow up, i just want to be Maddax. THANK YOU, I said. SO we are a little late on this site thing,we are just trying to be more journalistic. Dax is three still, Piper still thinks she has the best of  bo wirhls, Sarah's eggo is still preggo, I am still as far away as possible from artistic monday through friday.
