Happy Birthday, Dad!

Last Wednesday was my father-in-law's birthday. Let me tell you a little bit about Dad. He is an amazing father and grandfather. He loves his boys (4 sons) so much and has gone above and beyond for them many times. He is caring and sensitive and full of pride for his sons. I love seeing him with Matt and realizing exactly how Matt turned out to be such a great Dad to our kids. Dad is always there for us whether that means a midnight blessing, help changing out a kitchen faucet or simply offering his shoulder to cry on. He has welcomed me into his family with open arms and I feel less like a daughter-in-law and more like a daughter with each passing year. He is a dispenser of wonderful advice but also allows us to fail and fall without throwing it in our face afterward. I feel so blessed to have him in my life and my children's lives as well.

He is the world's greatest Grandad! He loves seeing the kids and is always to willing to build towers, race cars, have a tea party and watch a special performance. He is loving and kind and Piper and Dax simply adore him. I am so glad that he is a presence in their lives and that they have strong bonds. My grandparents meant the world to me and I am glad Pi and Dax have the same thing.

Here are a few pictures of our celebration in the park this weekend. We grilled out, played on the playground, threw some football and enjoyed being together. How truly blessed we are! We love you, Dad!!!

Pi and Dax had a good time playing football and throwing the frisbee.

Piper took this picture and I love it!

Piper and Grandma on the swing

Cousins!

The big boys played football for a while.

And I took pictures of the always cute Barrett aka Bear-Bear.

Barrett loves his Uncle Matty.

The grandkids did a musical performance for Grandad.

Look at these cute little boys.

We got a few pictures of the Mitchell men. Aren't they a good looking group of guys?

We love you, Dad!!!

That was a sweet post. I loved my grandparents too and I am so thankful that my kids have my parents in their lives. I wouldn't trade the world for the experience of having a close-knit extended family. I need to remember to take more pictures of our impromtu family gatherings, because I know the kids will treasure those when they are older.

Happy Birthday Matt's Dad!
